This stunning holiday house is located on Santorini and is inspired by the area cave houses
Everybody that hasn't been on a holiday yet, is dreaming about you. For these of you who are dreaming and for suckers for gorgeous homes we are sharing this Santorini household by Kapsimalis Architects.
The home is placed far from tourist crowds, perched high on the steep hillside of Profitis Ilias Mountain. This stylish one bedroom holiday house enjoys sweeping views of the Aegean due to its friendly location and the natives have a feeling that they are floating above the sea. The design of your home takes advantage of the island's traditional house-building methods and aesthetics of stripped down modernism.
The architects had been inspired from the island's most nearby cave homes, locally called "YPOSKAFA", that are dug completely to the sunken stone with no foundations. They nestled the home completely to the mountain slope making the least achievable imprint to the landscape. The home includes an extended shape having a 10-metre glazed façade that makes certain the dwelling spaces, an open-plan dining and living room and also an adjoining bedroom, and love ample points of view of the ocean views. The use of slipping, weatherproof glass doors also makes it feasible for the interior areas to seamlessly blend in the outdoor patio.
From the interior, the architects have gone for modern minimalism followed with way of a subdued palette of white, white, grey and beige that's complemented with the heat of pure textures like pine and walnut wood, and the starkness of black steel surfaces. Meanwhile, an eclectic selection of furniture delivers splashes of shade. Needlessly to say, the dwelling areas are bathed in daylight thanks to its glistening façade whereas the two baths, one on either side of the house, characteristic distinct skylights that create an even more neighboring atmosphere.
